Master of Computer Applications
(MCA) is a three year degree programme conducted by Osmania University from the year 1998.
The course is designed to ensure that the students acquire sound knowledge in
various subjects in computer field, develop expertise in software development
by extensive programming with hands on experience and gain adequate skills,
thus making them ideally suited for IT industry. This programme is targeted
towards preparing right personnel for the partial requirements of IT,
associated with system managerial skills.

Familiarizing the student with the
modern information technology environment.

Specializing them in handling various tools of analysis and
techniques of effective design and implementation.

In building up attitudes, traits and
expertise, which will help them, get fully equipped to face the challenges of
the ever exploding IT industry with confidence.
The course is spread over six semesters including classroom
sessions and in-house hands on practical training. Students are exposed to
operational environment through a project work during their final
year.
Admission
Procedure
Admission to MCA programme
is done through an Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) conducted
by Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) for the
undergraduate students of all Universities located in AP.
APSCHE authorizes one of the Universities in AP as a centralized admission
committee. Based on the performance in ICET and choice
of the institute, the admission committee allocates
students to affiliated MCA colleges. Our college is one of the most preferred
institute for girls.
Assessments
Students are continuously evaluated through internal assessments and seminars in
order to asses their theoretical and practical knowledge and applications
skills. They also undertake major projects in real life environment in public
and private sector institutions. Consequently they are exposed to various
aspects of project management and submit their studies in the form of a Project
Report which are evaluated by the subject experts. Needless to mention that the
results are not just hundred percent, but 100% first divisions, with more than
50% students passed in distinctions every time.
Project Work
Project work in
the fifth and sixth semesters of the course helps the students to gain
operational expertise. In the fifth semester, the students present seminars on
the Analysis and Design of the project, which has to be Implemented, Tested and
Documented during their sixth semester,
towards the partial fulfillment of MCA degree.
Awards

AMS School of Informatics, as a gesture of appreciation, awards Rs. 20,000/- to the students
who appear in the top five University rankers and Rs. 10,000/- to those
who are in the first ten Ranks of the University Examination.
